Abstract: The "College Essay Handbook" aims to assist students applying to US universities in addressing the confusion and pressure encountered during the personal statement writing process. While most application steps are relatively straightforward, sections involving creativity and design, such as personal statements, often leave students bewildered. Common personal statement prompts are typically vague, leading students to question which topics to choose and which to avoid. Additionally, conflicting feedback from various individuals adds to students' stress. This handbook includes several application cases, showcasing the evolution of students' personal statements from initial drafts to final versions, along with accompanying reflections and advice.
